QLS Chapter 2024 Holiday Gift Drive

In December 2024, the Quarry Lane School chapter of Village of Dreams launched a holiday gift drive to support teenagers at Shepherd’s Gate – a remarkable shelter in Livermore dedicated to helping women and children facing homelessness or difficult life circumstances. Shepherd’s Gate not only provides safe housing, but also holistic programs including counseling, education, job training, and life skills development, empowering residents to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting independence.

Students and their families donated both funds and thoughtful gifts, which volunteers then used to assemble festive gift baskets for the teens at Shepherd’s Gate. Each basket was carefully curated to include essential items such as cozy socks, warm hats, toiletries, and personal care products – things that can make daily life a bit more comfortable for teens in transition. In addition, the baskets featured treats like chocolates, holiday snacks, journals, and games, offering moments of joy and a reminder that they are cared for during the holiday season.

By working together with Shepherd’s Gate, the school not only raised awareness about the challenges faced by homeless women and children, but also inspired students to become compassionate leaders and active contributors to their community.
