Rising Star Komal from Hamirpur ranks 10th in Himachal Pradesh Board Merit List

Hamirpur’s Komal has brought pride and joy to her district after ranking 10th in the Himachal Pradesh Board merit list. Komal’s dedicated and disciplined routine involving 10-12 hours of work daily earned her an extraordinary score of 475/500. Through hard work, time, and effort, and the support of her family, Komal’s achievements and efforts have made her a role model across the district, and she has been congratulated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, local MLA Indra Dutt Lakhanpal, and former MLA Manjit Singh Dogra. Komal’s next goal is to pursue a B.S. in Computer Science at a top university. 

Komal’s accomplishment extends much beyond herself and her district. In Dasleda’s Government Senior Secondary School, extraordinary students can miss the merit list by an absurdly small amount. For example, two students each missed the mark by just 4 and 7 points, respectively. Regardless of them missing the official merit list, their talents and academic potential shine bright amongst the students of that region and are a sign of the growing academic potential in rural schools.

The Village of Dreams has been credited by local education advocates and community members for the positive shift in rural academics. The organization aims to strengthen the culture of learning and ambition in rural communities where such ideas are not enforced. Initiatives such as this one hosted by the Village of Dreams have encouraged all students and their parents to emphasize and support academic success. These new results from Dasleda are a key sign as to the success of the initiative and have helped to create a new academic environment for students living in rural communities.
